Baketik is a Centre for Peace founded in Arantzazu (Oñati, Basque Country) on 14th October 2006. The founders of this project were the Franciscans of the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, who were determined to establish a lay and secular Peace Centre, to be run in a plural and open way.

In this centre two ideals converge: peace and ethics. The activities are truly diverse, including, among others; courses on the ethical management of conflicts, in which more than 5,000 people have participated; a Forum Theatre programme, which has welcomed 7,000 young people from 120 schools; a Week on Africa, in June, which aims to bring us closer to the African reality; annual seminars where we reflect on the ethical priorities of our time; a residential programme of rest and leisure for at-risk and marginalised organizations and groups; a cinema club which offers 130 films with accompanying educational guidelines to enable reflection about life, human rights and living with others; and a proposal for inter-religious and inter-cultural meeting points, based upon four basic teachings.
